History
The Barriere Curling Club has been part of the North
Thompson community since 1979. Over the past 30 years we have provided
the residents of Barriere and the surrounding area a great place to
socialize and have fun. The club has 4 sheets of ice.
Extensive improvements to the ice plant and social facilities have been made
over the years. The club is used for many community activities including
flea markets in the spring and fall. The curling rink is also used as an
exhibition hall during the annual North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo each
Labour Day weekend. In the off season it hosts weddings, graduations, and
family reunions. Annual events including the Loggerspiel, the
Sweethearts bonspiel and the Shamrock bonspiel attract curlers from all over
the province. The Barriere Curling Club is a non profit
organization that relies on and appreciates the support of volunteers, its
members, and the community. |
